Medical Research Council

The principal objective of the Medical Research Council (MRC) is to improve human health through world-class medical research. It does this in three main ways: by providing research grants and career awards to scientists in UK universities and hospitals; by funding research centers in partnership with universities, and through the activity inside its own research facilities. The Council receives annual grant-in-aid funding from UK Government but is independent in its choice of research to support.
